Yukio Ozaki former justice minister said Japan would welcome a US proposed conference on arms limits. He noted a thousand meetings across the country and postcards showing 94 percent in favor. Officials indicated the government would welcome such a conference as a path to broader U.S.-Japan diplomacy.
Rome July 4 Signor Bonomi announced a cabinet to succeed Giolitti. He serves as premier and interior minister with Soleri as finance minister and de Nava as treasury minister. Ber Gasparotto leads war and Ber Signor Bonomi may also take foreign affairs pending Marquis Della Torreta’s decision.
Chicago July 4 The fifteen hundred chairmen of the Railway Unions meeting here failed to reach an agreement on the wage cut effective July 1 and will continue sessions this week. They planned a statement on employees attitudes toward the wage decreases and the national working agreements continued temporarily by the board pending further conferences between the roads and their employees.
A brush fire in Northern Los Angeles County killed Chester Hallett, an automobile driver who tried to aid the firefighters. He backed his vehicle over an embankment while assisting axes of the fire fight, dying in the incident.
Governor C R Mabey flipped the switch as pumps began lifting 43 563 gallons of water per minute from the Jordan River to the high line canals 812 feet above. The Bonneville irrigation project covers several thousand acres in Davis and Son counties and cost 750 000 dollars to complete.
The American Flint Glass Workers Union begins its annual convention in Sandusky with delegates from twelve states and two Canadian provinces. Membership stands at about 8,900, down 900 in the year, with 62 percent in the trade, 17 percent outside, and 21 percent unemployed. The treasury will report a rise to about $625,000. London July 4 The House of Commons heard Sir Arthur Griffith-Boscawen and Sir Robert Stevenson Horne acknowledge the impossibility of continuing the agriculture subsidy. A bill to repeal the December agriculture act seeks to end guaranteed minimum prices and the large wartime subsidy, facing a yearly cost of twenty to thirty million pounds.
Unprecedented holiday crowds filled Sandusky Ohio hotels and nearby resorts. The Police Department housed over 1,200 visitors in private homes while a nearby resort reported more than 700 people sleeping in groves or cars overnight.
Aein Stephenson, 9, paced a county jail cell denying involvement in the death of 7-year-old Henry Blevins whose body was found with a broken neck in a pond. Police say Stephenson admitted breaking the neck with an iron coupling bar after an argument during a swimming outing yesterday afternoon.
J H Rickey of Newport Kentucky swerved to avoid a collision and crashed into a light pole at Pearl and Pike streets. The pole broke off and struck Bystander Atlay Smalling who stood on the sidewalk but suffered no injuries. Rickey reported another car sped from Pearl Street into his path. police could not learn the other driver’s identity.
A blaze last night damaged the Co. and O. Railroad trestle over Webb alley between Stone and Mill streets. Sparks from hot cinders or fireworks sparked the fire, fanned by a late breeze. Engine Company No. 14 extinguished the flames. the loss was slight.

The afternoon featured the Des Moines public schools Americanization pageant showing foreign born citizens who have undergone the Americanization process. Henry C Wallace Secretary of Agriculture N S Kendall Governor of Iowa and H H Barton Mayor Des Moines spoke at tonight's session.

Edward Marquis right fielder for Moose of Toronto died after being struck by a pitched ball on Saturday. He remained in the game, batted twice more, but died in hospital from internal hemorrhage caused by the ball striking the base of the skull. The incident recalls Ray Chapman’s fatal injury.
Police found three children aged 9 6 and 4 alone at 26 West Fourth Street. A woman named Mrs. Anna Glem with five children had rented rooms but left, sending two boys away in a car a week earlier. Orville Walker sheltered the trio then moved them to the Children’s Home, later to St Elizabeth Hospital awaiting further care. mother is being sought.

Charles Beckman a 35 year old truck gardener living on Grand Avenue La tonia was arrested on a warrant based on a charge by Frances Fight of Eighteenth and Holman streets that he stole items from a Rose Dale camp last fall Police with Mrs Fight located two diamond rings other jewelry blankets and women clothing in the Beckman home Beckman was taken to county jail while his wife was cited to appear in court over the matter
Covington police received a report of an injured man at St Elizabeths Hospital. Three companions brought the man in with a split eyeball and left him in care. The intoxicated man refused to identify himself and soon disappeared before officers could question him.
George Youtsey 79 died at his home 415 Sandford Street after a three week illness. He was a former clerk at Liberty National Bank and long time worker in the Internal Revenue Clerk's office in Covington. Survived by his widow, one son and two daughters. Funeral tomorrow at 2 PM at the residence, burial in Highland Cemetery.
More than a thousand members are expected for the Loyal Order of Moose annual outing at Rosedale Park next Sunday. Secretary James A. Herold says 500 gallons of Kentucky burgee will be supplied free of charge. A band concert races and games are featured.
Nellie Powers aged 58 widow of John Powers died yesterday at 409 Pearl Street. She leaves seven grown children including Rev. Thomas Powers a Jesuit priest in St. Louis. The son will conduct funeral services at St Marys Cathedral with time yet to be announced.
Mrs. William Kreathe aged 72 died at her daughter Mrs Wachs home at Twentieth and Scott streets. Harry F Donnelly filed for Coroner nomination on the Democratic ticket with County Clerk Dillon. Officer Ellerman arrested Thomas L Spears for being absent without leave at Fortieth and Huntington. Henry B Hadford was arrested for loitering at Second and Madigan. Walter Matz was fined in Police Court for disorderly conduct and assault.
About six thousand Covington residents joined a Fourth of July celebration in Devon Park led by a 100-member committee appointed by Mayor Donnelly. The Norman Barnes Post American Legion conducted the patriotic program with speeches by Judge Read and Robert L. Black, a flag raised on a 75-foot pole, and a tree-planting honor for Col. Fred W. Galbraith.
Physicians at Speers Hospital yesterday operated on John Fox of 25 Court Place in a bid to save his life after a car with his wife and two men plunged down an eighteen foot embankment on the Twelve Mile road four miles south of Alexandria. Fox suffered a compound skull fracture while the others sustained less serious injuries. After the operation his condition remained unchanged.
The body of 22 year old Harry Fassler of 214 East Tenth street was recovered yesterday morning after he drowned Sunday afternoon at Brent Ky in the Ohio River. He was said to have stepped into an eddy and was dragged under the water. Funeral arrangements will be completed today.
The Woman's Entertainment Committee of the Loyal Order of Moose will entertain a number of friends with a lawn fete on the grounds surrounding their home on Washington avenue.
Albert King chief of the fire department was notified yesterday of his sister Mrs. Robert Gaventi age 39 dying in Chicago. The body will be brought here tomorrow for burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Fire department responded yesterday morning to 839 Isabella Street to extinguish a roof blaze caused by fireworks. The loss was small and no injuries were reported. Charles F. Schreiber is the homeowner.
Patrolman David Bain arrested Carl Sanders Howard Stullenkamp and Walter Rankel all of Dayton yesterday on disorderly conduct. Sanders resisted the arrest for intoxication, and Stullenkamp and Rankel refused to move on. They gave bond for appearance in Police Court tomorrow evening.
Charles Garnett a 35 year old streetcar conductor on Holman Street collapsed from heat yesterday at Twelfth and Banklick streets. He was placed in the police emergency vehicle and taken to his home at 3918 Huntington Avenue Latonia. This marked his second collapse in ten days after a prior incident on the Suspension Bridge near St Elizabeth Hospital Covington.
George Willis aged 39 at 638 Sixth Avenue was burned on the face and hands yesterday afternoon when a bottle of gunpowder he was examining exploded. He was treated at Dr. S. O. Griggs’s office.
Alvin Sickles and Raymond Stahel were arrested by detectives on a stolen automobile charge. The car was reported stolen in Cincinnati. The case, likely to move from Police Court before Judge Lew Manson to Federal Court, was set for this morning.
The Covington Police Court docket lists ten people charged with traffic violations, eight arrested Saturday and two yesterday. Also five continued cases. Yesterday’s arrestees include Albert Beattie, 50, electrician, 2522 Richie Street, Cincinnati, and Robert Castellini, 17, clerk, 142 Edwards Road, Cincinnati. Arrests were by Officer John Clark.
Three men tried to steal a car belonging to Commonwealth Attorney Stephens L. Blakely yesterday at Sixth and Madison. They enlisted a helper to drive it to a Madison avenue garage, but Otto Froelicher and Blakely pursued. Two suspects fled. Blakely declined to prosecute the remaining man.
Lawrence Johnson of Huntington Virginia and Queen Mosby of seeeeenwenee Hoatneton Wisconsin are listed under marriage licenses with their residences. The fragment notes unclear city spellings and partial state data.
