Clara Taylor, the kidnapper, tracked to Italy with Margaret Taylor. Pinkerton and Commercial Tribune agents oversee surveillance as authorities plan extradition, with Washington and Rome to coordinate. Goals include arrest in the U S and return of Margaret to her parents.
Special despatch reports Senator Burton of Kansas opposing H. Clay Evans as London consul general and criticizing a Cuban reciprocity plan. President Roosevelt hints at a forthcoming Philippine policy likely moving toward autonomy and eventual insular independence. Wee Lung Fong, brought to New York to wed Ling Foy, a Ninth Street merchant, was abducted by Highbinders amid rising Chinatown excitement. Ling Foy refused a $1000 “merry making” demand as investigators search for the missing bride and the gang’s leaders.
Special Despatch from Fostoria Ohio reports hysteria among hundreds of Incandescent Lamp Company workers after a fight between two male employees. As they grappled and toppled lamp globes, wounded men bled and fainting spread through the shop causing a near total collapse of order.
