In Springfield May 4 the Bishops of the Methodist Episcopal Church endorsed world peace efforts, World Court participation, and immigration limits while urging an end to war. They supported unification with the Methodist Episcopal Church South and cited broader denominational mergers, praising joint efforts toward unity.
United States army aviators continued the around the world flight without Major F L Martin by flying from Dutch Harbor Unalaska to Atka Island 350 miles toward Japan. The three air cruisers New Orleans Chicago and Boston landed after four hours and fifteen minutes despite fog.

Police say he detained Hoffman in his studio and later attacked her in an office building before her escape. Nyman was taken to New York by Det. Lt. John Crouse and faces deportation to Russia as an undesirable.
Chicago resumes ice cream production after a four day strike that tied up twenty six plants and left thousands of workers idle. Drivers sought higher pay while manufacturers opposed the demand. terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
Arnold G. Tutman reports two unidentified men robbed him of 254 dollars near 8 pm on Andersons Ferry road. His car was taken and later found abandoned at the Elberon car line end. A robber climbed aboard and demanded surrender with a revolver. Tutman was driven toward the city before a passing motorist helped him.
In Toledo, a drunken robber attempting a highway hold up shot William Doty of Fostoria through the brain as his party refused to stop. Doty, 25, died several hours later at a local hospital. The car occupants were ordered from the vehicle as the bandits fled after firing.
Henry Ford announced a gift totaling 75 000 dollars to the Young Women's Christian Association for three years to support rural section work designated by Ford. The funds were disclosed during the YWCA annual convention in New York.
The body of three year old Adrian Sanford Gil bloom was recovered today in Springfield Lake Sawyer Wood by two boys from a searching party that had hunted him since his disappearance on Thursday.

Joe Tob, 54, of 3160 Reading road, suffered a fractured collar bone and scalp and leg lacerations when hit by a car driven by F. J. Young at 3159 Reading road yesterday. Witnesses say Tob stepped into the street. he was taken to General Hospital by the driver. Condition not serious.

A state attorney general ruling requires a statewide vote to conform with election law, allowing voters to express preference for an uninstructed delegation if any presidential candidate appears on the ballot. Democrats field no candidates.
A bucket of water from December sparked a shooting affray injuring Carlo Witte and Hubert Hoskins. Hoskins fired into the air before police arrested him after he wounded Witte. Gorman shot Hoskins in the hip as he fled. both men are in custody or hospital with non fatal injuries. An earlier crash on Reading road ties to the brothers of Hoskins.
The Postmaster General announced daily air mail between New York and San Francisco will begin July 1 with 35 hour deliveries and 24 hour transit expected soon. New York May 4 Parents of Columbia University students urged resignations over Dr Nicholas Murray Butler remarks against enforcement of the Eighteenth Amendment. Students chose to stay, while supporters defend Butler stating he opposes bootleggers and upholds law and order.
Washington May 4 Two House resolutions to obtain a report on U S naval strength and its parity with Britain and Japan were announced Representative Britten Illinois Republican on the Naval Committee urged a detailed Navy Department report covering twenty seven points while Representative Rogers Massachusetts urged a concise inquiry Both cited Admiral Coontzs warning of naval deficiencies and urged action to restore parity and proper aviation support for the fleet.
The Union Carbide Company offers a fifty year lease of all Muscle Shoals property with a $120 million minimum guarantee. It proposes to manufacture fixed nitrogen fertilizer at Plant No 2 cost plus 5 percent, reserve 50 000 horsepower for fertilizer, fund research, and supply power to the South while selling hydro electric energy to the government. The bid also includes plant operation for fifty years and rental payments for Nitrate Plants No 1 and No 2 plus a quarry royalty.
