Professor Wayland R. Benedict of the philosophy department resigns his faculty post and thanks the trustees for kindness as he retires to enjoy a pension from the Carnegie Foundation.
The University Trustees accepted W. R. Benedict’s resignation as professor of philosophy and awarded him a life pension of 1500 dollars annually from the Carnegie Foundation. He becomes emeritus professor for life. a committee will craft resolutions. Benedict notes long service since 1875 and plans to study and publish research with pension support.
Special Dispatch to Commercial Tribune reports a four part US Germany trade pact. It adds champagne and sparkling wines to reduced duty items and outlines a list of American goods to receive minimum or maximum rates in Germany. The agreement covers 97.5 percent of US imports, including grains fruits timber meats petroleum leather goods shoes and more with detailed tariff ranges for machinery typewriters and other categories.
