Report from Upper Sandusky Ohio on May 2 describes a remarkable find six miles east of town at the Larrick Farm. A streak of gold-like material was uncovered while digging near Brokensaw Creek after a chipmunk alerted workers. A jeweler tested the substance and confirmed it as real gold. A party of men continued digging and found a thirty foot long streak descending, with the end not yet reached.
Milwaukee May 2 The first authentic statement on Frank G Bigelow's downfall comes from a close friend who attributes the disaster to overconfidence in his business ability which was lacking. Bigelow denies he lost the money in a wheat deal.
In Warsaw on May Day 1919 a manifesto called for a general strike as 300000 workers walked out after violent clashes the night before. Injuries ran into the hundreds while authorities deployed infantry and cavalry amid bitter public anger at the bloodshed.

The Chicago murder case against Johann Hoch rests on Mrs. Amelia Sauerbroich who testified about a quarrel among Emilie Fischer Hoch Bertha Sohn and Marie Welker Hoch and about Hoch marrying soon after Welker Hoch's death. Sauerbrocie says Hoch poisoned their sister.
Cork May 2. During a torpedo attack at Berehaven last night the destroyer Syren ran aground on a reef at the eastern entrance to the harbor and lies on the rock with her back broken.
Two CP Rail firemen died and five passengers were injured when a westbound transcontinental train collided with a freight train about thirty five miles west of Revelstoke Manitoba. Both trains derailed and fell over the embankment in the wreck.
