Hot weather tips promote cooling through shower sprays. The Vac Store offers a range of shower sprays from 98 cents to 2.75 dollars and overhead shower outfits priced at 10.50 to 18.50 dollars. Kenney shower outfits require no curtain and prevent splashing. Bathing caps in pure rubber, 25 cents to 1.25 dollars.
Preliminary surveying is finished at the Broadwell site where Air Nitrates Corporation will erect its nitrate plant. Six concrete mixers arrive, digging will start soon, president Frank Washburn to arrive from the East. Applications for jobs are pouring in daily as the traffic office opens at Room 1006 First National Bank Building under J T Oldhougsen. A switch from the Norfolk and Western line is being laid into the grounds.
Private James J. Shea of 62 East Auburn Avenue and a machine gun unit in France was not missing in action as earlier reported. He is in a house hospital with shell shock. Shea worked as a lithographer for the United States Playing Card Company and enlisted last August, sailing to France in January. A prior Washington notice had said he was missing after the June 24 engagement, but a later letter from him and government confirmation state he is wounded and not missing.
A. H. Nordmeyer of Evanston declares William Nordmeyer, the self confessed bank robber, is not related to his family. Nordmeyer says William lived in Covington seven months after coming from Indiana and has no ties to the Ninth Ward Building and Loan Association robbery earlier this year.
The Ordnance Department civilian personnel section drew twenty two responses Monday to the government call for men to lead stevedores and loading forces with captain pay. Principal qualification is experience directing gangs of 250 or more. A request was made for a mechanical engineer.

Catherine Meyer files a $5000 damages suit against William F Babel of 908 West Liberty for the death of her eight year old son Theodore Meyer struck by an autotruck owned by Babel on Clay street near Twelfth street on April 14 1917.
Stella Cook Louise Cook and Clara Cook Pirrung filed in Common Pleas Court a suit for 4080 dollars they say is due as their share of profits from the saloon and care of the late George Albert Cook at 3508 Reading road. The plaintiffs allege that after his death in 1905 his widow became administratrix and handled the estate but did not render an account and paid only four monthly installments of 60 dollars each to the saloon profits under an 1912 agreement through attorney Jacob SS Hermann.
Mrs Elizabeth Wright sues the Cincinnati Traction Company for 5000 dollars claiming injuries after a fall from a street car at Fifth and Vine streets on February 25. She alleges the car started suddenly without warning as she alighted, causing a permanent injury. Attorneys are Fulford Shook and Wilby.

The H Judd Company of New York sues the National Brass Manufacturing Company of Cincinnati alleging violation of trade rights. Damages of 5000 dollars are sought and an injunction is requested to prevent further invasion of rights. The case concerns metal frames for soldiers pictures, claimants say they devised special forms. Littleford and Ballard represent the plaintiff.

A committee will study and report.
Jacob Baschang died Monday at his daughter’s home 1660 Cedar avenue College Hill from complications of diseases. He ran a roadhouse near Sweetwine on Nety Richmond pike after leaving the Dow Tax Collector post and later worked as a private watchman. He leaves a widow two sons and two daughters. Age sixty. Funeral from the residence at 2 o’clock Wednesday.
