Police search Newport for 16 year old Eva Higgins of 224 West Tenth Street who vanished after being urged to join a Cincinnati theatrical company. Her mother says the girl, in poor health, warned against leaving home and papers with song lyrics were found on her. Investigators questioned friends in Cincinnati and checked rehearsals.
Dr. O D Russell reported the loss of his automobile from his Lower River road home. In Connersville Indiana police captured two Cleveland men, Joseph Waltz and Frank Burk, after a gunfight while they tried to enter the city. One suspect was wounded. detectives planned warrants.
John Gallagher a 52 year old theater superintendent was attacked in the Bijou Theater basement as a robber demanded the day's receipts. The gun discharged during the struggle, grazing Gallagher's left hip. Gallagher identified the assailant to police at General Hospital.
It was announced today that Queen Sophie will serve as godmother to the infant daughter of Mme. Manos, the morganatic wife of the late King Alexander. The child will be christened Alexandra Sophie.
