In Wellston Ohio March 26 miners warn the electric railroad to cut power or face a boycott. The Wellston Coal Company used a mining machine paid by the day to load from it, a practice miners say violates the agreement. The electric line supplies power, with about one third of road traffic from miners.
In Elyria Ohio on March 26 railroad detective Millick with deputies jailed five Polander men from Grafton on charges of stealing coal from railroad cars. The suspects resisted arrest and fought with clubs and stones. No serious injuries reported. The men had been discharged by the Grafton Stone Company last fall. The Polanders remained unrestful as additional arrests loomed.
Alfred Trembor, 25, returning from a country ball, was held at gunpoint by two masked men near Fayettesville and forced to surrender his pocketbook containing about $50 and papers. Trembor believes one assailant is a friend he previously bet with after a recent prize fight.
Adjutant General Axline announced commissions for Robert L. Davis as First Lieutenant and Marcus H. Folger as Second Lieutenant in Company B First Infantry Cincinnati and Charlies V. Paul as Second Lieutenant in Battery C Zanesville. He also accepted resignations of Charles B. Richardson First Lieutenant and Alexander W. Crouch Second Lieutenant in Company H Fourteenth Infantry Portsmouth.
In Elwood at 8 am William Cummings of Alexandria shot himself in front of friends and is at death's door. He remains conscious but refuses to say why he took his action.
Peebles is the only town in the county where women put a school ticket in the field. Mrs G N McManus and Mrs G B Thomor are the candidates.

Washington Ind March 26 John Slatton eluded police overnight after a gun battle and a hideout in a garret. Deputies surrounded the house and threatened to burn it before Slatton surrendered at noon.
B L Garber a Belleville Ohio traveling salesman was found unconscious in an alley near Van Buren street and Fifth avenue with a bullet wound in his head. He died at County Hospital without regaining consciousness, police believe death may have been self inflicted.
News from Bourbon Indiana reports a duel between Charles Leeds and Blanchard Thomas over a sweetheart. The men renewed an old quarrel after leaving a party. Thomas was killed by Leeds who was wounded himself and may die.
The State Board of Charities met in Indianapolis to probe allegations of cruelty at the Reform School for Boys, targeting Superintendent Dr. T. J. Chariton after circulating rumors.
