Park budget blocks larger Eden Park shelter plan
Park Superintendent Rodgers told the Service Board there is insufficient appropriation to build a bigger shelter house in Eden Park as requested by the Walnut Hills Business Men’s Club. James O’Meara, convicted of petit larceny last year, was released from the Workhouse after signing an abstinence pledge for five years. Gustave Drach reported Henry Niemes’ bid of 1290 dollars for steam fitting on the new Public Comfort station in Fountain Square and Niemes secured the contract. Over thirty Fire Department lieutenants have applied to join today’s eligibility exam for captain promotions, with substitute fireman exams tomorrow. The Board of Public Service, urged by the Business Men’s Club, will ask the traction company to sprinkle all streets along its tracks, excluding steep grades. The board backed a bill to allow Cincinnati to lower canal bridges and improve canal-area streets within city limits.
