Canea Crete March 25 insurgents blew up the Malaxa blockhouse with dynamite at 8 pm. Turkish warships then bombarded the insurgents, firing ninety shells. The garrison of 64 men scattered with one escaping to Nerokhuri and 18 to Suda. others are believed dead.
In Athens March reports describe fierce Crete fighting and the destruction of the Malaxa blockhouse by dynamite at 8 pm after a day of siege. Insurgents pursued a fleeing Turkish garrison as flames lit Suda Bay, while Crown Prince Constantin prepares to lead troops in Thessaly with royal approval.
The Greek Patriarch reports 700 killed in Tokat including several Greeks. The Porte arrests eighty Armenian suspects amid fears of unrest. The Sultan seeks an explanation from the Russian ambassador in St Petersburg over troops near the Turkish frontiers. Rumors persist of a secret treaty with Russia to preserve Turkey’s territorial integrity.
Special Dispatch to Commercial Tribune reports George Horn of 40 Portage Street hanged himself in a shed behind his home Thursday morning. He arose to light the kitchen fire at six, later found by a son. Physicians concluded death occurred some time earlier. Horn leaves a wife and several children.
The headless body of a man, found by Dunning Poorhouse workers Peter Hengle and Thomas Smith while cleaning a catch basin, appears to have been there over a year. Clothing suggests he was not a poorhouse inmate, indicating possible murder.

In South Bend Indiana on March 25 a police officer named Cutting faced a fatal tragedy as his elderly mother, living ten miles north of the city, died in a house fire believed sparked by a stove. The blaze destroyed the residence and investigators began examining the cause.
In Parkerburg West Virginia the Mt Hope Methodist Church on Lamberts Run faces a clash over a singing school held on Sundays. Pastor F B Davis says the practice violates church discipline and has locked the doors after a Quarterly Conference favored him. Supporters of the singing barricaded the church and warn they will repel any fresh attempt to enter.
Frank Nielan of Oakland fatally shot his sister in law Mrs. John Stallock in Susquehanna and then killed himself. He had been living apart from his wife, who resided with her sister, and, after being denied entry to see his wife, opened fire on Mrs. Stallock.
Zanesville Ohio March 25 Mrs Anna Richmond lifelong member of South Street Methodist Church died today after taking ill while passing the church and entering the parlors where a sewing society meeting was in progress.
In Huntington Indiana March 25 the widow Hattie Keffer won a court ruling granting her control to remove the bodies of her husband Conrad Keffer and their child from the old Catholic Cemetery to the Protestant Clear Creek Cemetery. Henry Keffer had sought to block the move with a temporary restraining order. The judge dissolved the injunction and ordered the transfer to begin.
Special Dispatch reports Gen Joseph S Fullerton of St Louis died in a rail wreck near Oakland Maryland after changing sleepers to avoid cold and a rear end collision. He rode with only 13 dollars in his purse. Albert Swasey witnessed the scene and recounts the sequence of choices leading to the tragedy.
A European syndicate has an option on six Dayton breweries and may close a deal for the seventh. The six breweries carry a $3,000,000 offer. If the current offer falls through, an English syndicate led by ex Governor Campbell and Hon Joe Dowling will attempt to close. One brewery holds out for more money. Attorneys say the deal may close tonight or tomorrow.
Cleveland march 25 John D Rockefeller's representatives at the Bessemer Iron Association meeting fought against wage reductions for ore miners The meeting adjourned without agreement and it was stated wages in Rockefeller mines would not be cut regardless of others actions
In Cleveland the organizing committee for the National meeting of the Society of the Sons of the American Revolution on April 30 and May 1 has nearly finished its plans. It is hoped General Horace Porter, the new Ambassador to France, will deliver the principal address.
David Adams of Carey's Run attempted to disrupt a church meeting on Tuesday night by hurling a boulder. The blow fractured the right arm of Reverend Webb, the church minister. Adams was arrested this morning.
In Rome on March 2, 100 visitors attended the Pope's mass in the Vatican throne room, including 30 American pilgrims led by Father Throop. Afterward the Pope allowed kisses on his foot, exchanged gifts, and granted papal benedictions for returning pilgrims. The group will sail from Genoa on Saturday.

Caldwell announces Kate and Jake Bender, once of the nine‑victim Independence Kansas family, are believed hiding in Bend ers, Ross County Ohio, with arrest possible any moment after Kansas authorities reply. They disappeared after killing Dr. York, last known victim, with vigilante theories lacking proof.

In Amos Bayou the spill will largely miss Desha County but threaten the Chicot Tensas Basin. About 150 workers are on duty guarding the levee to prevent a cut. A railroad line is secured with heavy wire spanning a mile and a half to resist washout if overflow occurs.
Floods in Albany Georgia reach a ferocious level with Commerce, State and Planter streets under water up to the second floor. More than forty houses are flooded forcing families to move belongings. Bridges at Muckalee and Kinchemonne Creeks washed away and Flint River bridge endangered. Rail service halted, mails arrive by pole cars as rivers rise and timber floats away.

Elizabeth Paul gon a sixteen year old girl from No 120 Quincy street died today from fright after mistaking a hat on the wall for a band and fainting. The coroner's jury ruled death was due to fright.
