The Senate approved the four-power treaty 67 to 27 with the no alliance declaration. Twelve Democrats supported ratification while four Republicans opposed. Debates over reservations and amendments persisted despite a unanimous consent day. A supplemental treaty defining scope will be discussed next.
TRINIDAD Col March 24 Eight miners are known to have died and ten are missing after an explosion in Sopris Mine No 2 of the Colorado Fuel and Iron Company near here The blast occurred just after the day shift left 200 men. Two bodies had been identified. The others were badly burned. Rescue crews began bracing the wrecked concrete slope and penetrating the mine as they sought the cause of the blast
Mrs. Anna Crabtree was granted a divorce from Rev. W. W. Crabtree in Marion Ohio on grounds he eloped with the wife of Rev. H. E. Rough of Union County. Rough has a divorce case pending.
A March 24 Senate session drew a large public crowd as ratification debates began. The amphitheater and galleries filled beyond capacity while Capitol Police manned doors. Mrs. Harding attended in the reserved gallery with diplomats including Baron de Cartier and Alfred Sze among the delegates.

A wireless from the steamer William Greene says pilot Robert Moore of the Miss Miami was rescued after the flying boat went missing en route to Bimini. Five passengers—August Bulte and Lawrence Smith of Kansas City, Mrs J Dixon of Memphis, and Mr and Mrs Bulte—were drowned. Moore is recovering aboard the Greene and will provide details tomorrow.
In Paris the Chamber of Deputies launched a stormy debate over the French delegation to the Washington Conference. Aristide Briand faced charges of proposing a Franco American naval alliance against Britain. critics urged his trial before the Senate as a high court. Albert Sarraut defended Briand while pledging loyalty to the former premier.
Edsel B. Ford announced a permanent forty hour week, closing plants on Saturdays and Sundays. About 3,000 new jobs will be created and roughly 50,000 workers will earn a minimum of six dollars daily for five eight hour days. New hires will start at five dollars daily with gradual nationwide rollout beginning at Highland Park plant. The policy aims to boost home life while maintaining overall output.

Miss Margaret Standish Traub daughter of Colonel and Mrs. Peter F. Traub of Ft. Thomas married Clayton Hartsough of Briarcliff on the Hudson in a small Lima Ohio ceremony last Wednesday. The couple announced the wedding to Traubs in Ft. Thomas yesterday. Traub, an Emma Willard graduate, served as a yeoman in New York during the war. Hartsough, a naval aviation corps veteran, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H W Hartsough of Briarcliff.
New York March 24 Jack MecGuinnes 53 died after a long career in racing noted for daring plunges. He built a fortune from bold bets and winning horses before ill health forced him to sell his stable. He recalled his first major score at 50 to 1 on Tribes Hill bought for $100.
Third trial ends with a 6 6 deadlock as jurors fail to agree on convicting or acquitting John D Allen of manslaughter in the 3 year old Clifton Bowdle death. Judge Hoffman discharged the panel after nearly twelve hours of deliberation.
A street car crash last night at the foot of Clifton Hill left one woman dead and eight injured. The accident echoes a January 4, 1919 collision nearby that killed one and injured thirty six. Mrs Barbara Franke, 73, died trying to jump to safety. seven women and one man were injured. Motorman R Buner blamed defective brakes. bystanders aided the injured as wreckage and shattered platforms spread across Vine and Clifton avenues.
