London March 25 The Daily News Dublin says General Gough won a written guarantee after a tense interview with Field Marshal Sir John French who criticized him and others. Field Marshal Lord Roberts eased tensions. The Daily News notes Col Seely may resign while reports of wider cabinet resignations are disputed. The Times cites evidence of a large-scale Ulster coup and a countermanded fleet order once Curragh officers refused service.
A morning riot in Oromac Square Belfast led to police dispersal with revolver fire and thrown missiles. Several rioters were arrested and many people reported minor injuries.
In Columbus March 24 speculation rose that James R. Garfield may face a Progressive fight for the governorship as John J. Fackler of Cleveland gains support. Progressives fear Garfield would run softly if nominated, while the aggressive Fackler could draw Democratic votes away from Republicans. If Fackler declines, John L. Sullivan of East Liverpool might enter. J H Secrest announced his candidacy for Democratic Secretary of State with state organization backing.
Aberdeen reports Bettie Hutchinson charged with kidnapping her six year old niece Jettie Edna Cole from Asheville North Carolina. Corrie Tinsley 17 is held on a similar charge at Centralia. The pair arrived in the state days ago and claim the girl was given into Hutchinson’s care by the mother who is deceased. the father filed the complaint.
Ernest McWilliams, 15, exchanged more than fifty shots with police after barricading in a Tetzel shop rear auto. Wounded, he surrendered with bloodied clothes, later taken to hospital in serious condition. five revolvers found on him and rifles in the car.
Mme Caillaux testifies at the Boxamini Magistrate hearing in Paris detailing her claim that she aimed only to warn M. Calmette, not kill him, after purchasing a revolver and visiting The Figaro office. She recalls greeting Calmette, firing a low shot, and the events leading to the tragedy.

She found pawn tickets proving jewelry pledged, including a ring valued at $500, while his fortune tied to Mexican investments has fallen since the Mexican revolution. He was arrested today in Portland.

Philadelphia March 24 police began grappling the Schuylkill River bottom for Warren McCarrick a seven year old boy missing nearly two weeks. Authorities believe he may have fallen from the river bank while the boy’s whereabouts remain uncertain. Four men arrested in New Jersey on suspicion of knowledge about the case were released.
Mrs. Mary Machia collapsed and died in Youngstown Ohio as she knelt in prayer beside her son Paul who had died the previous day.
