A prank by Mayor Hunt had patrolmen arrest more than twenty prominent citizens at the University Club. Officers in disguise took them to the Second District station where they were booked for a mock license violation before bond was posted and they were released. Several officials and guests watched, while four knew the truth only later.
Forecasts say fifty-four to fifty-five feet of water on the Ohio River at Cincinnati by Tuesday with rising levels expected toward Cairo by Thursday. Weather Forecaster Devereaux warned the river could reach and pass 55 feet, triggering preparations as rivermen move goods from basements and storehouses to upper floors. Local merchants report fear but say they are ready, with some estimating 52 feet would flood basements and 55 would force first-floor evacuations. In Harrodsburg Kentucky Edward Moore in a drink fueled frenzy attacked his wife and family. He wounded two officers who responded and then killed himself after a standoff. His 14 year old son Frank Wotan deflected a gun barrel with a chair, distracting Moore. Police recovered three revolvers a rifle a shotgun a bowie knife and 2500 cartridges in the kitchen.
Akron Ohio March 24 Aged man L R Freeman of Cuyahoga Falls was struck as he gathered Sunday papers and instantly killed by an Interurban car He was 63 years old.
The steamer Mauretania, bound for New York, reached Queenstown today but could not embark 132 passengers and much mail due to heavy seas.

Ashtabula March 24 Colonel James K Stebbins aged 69 collapsed and died at his home today. A forty five year business resident, he served in the Civil War and was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic.
Andre Kepassis Effendi prince governor of Samos Island was shot and killed by a Greek assailant in Constantinople. The killer was arrested and the crime is linked to local enmity and political tensions on the island.
