Doheny is acquitted on bribery charges related to obtaining access to a naval oil field. The jury reached its verdict after lengthy deliberations. The defense asserted lack of evidence while prosecutors argued motive and opportunity.
Edward L. Doheny was found not guilty in Washington DC of bribing Albert B. Fall over the Elk Hills oil lease. The verdict came on the jury's first ballot, amid mixed reactions from spectators. Fall, also tried, was acquitted on the earlier charge but awaits appeal on the later claim.
Orland L. Behn of Savon Clothes Shop 613 Vine Street Norwood was robbed again last night by two well dressed bandits. A revolver forced him to the cellar while one thief emptied the cash register of 40 dollars. Earlier a similar raid netted about 60 dollars and left Behn and a clerk bound in the cellar.
Treasury Department launches a nationwide construction drive totaling 92 million dollars for public works. Actress accused by Mrs. Raby Brown Porter of usurping affections of her husband Herb Nacio Brown, noted Hollywood songwriter.

Boston March 22. Capt John Hally and the crew of the trawler Breeze report a northwesterly gale sixty miles east of Cape Cod. Heavy seas boarded the ship but the water receded leaving the deck filled with silver haling and the crew added herring to the trip's catch from George's Banks.
H. D. Willis of London, Ohio, a bank employee, said two men dressed as officers robbed him of $500 and a pint of liquor as he tried to get change. He reported the incident to police in Columbus on March 22.
Treasury Secretary Mellon announces $92 million in new construction planned this year in addition to $40 million for public buildings already under way. If the Keyes Elliott public buildings bill passes, an additional $115 million may be authorized, accelerating several large projects including the Chicago Post Office and other federal structures nationwide.
Fred J. Deprez, 72, long time Cincinnati cook famed for broiling chops at the Burnet House and St. Nicholas Hotel since 1882, died in Cincinnati. In Columbus Circle two men escape a kidnapping by crashing their car into a traffic booth after being forced into the vehicle by three gangsters. Patrolman John Grady, shaken but unhurt, grappled with one assailant and helped subdue him with help from the victims. The captured suspect is identified as George Mott, a former Sing Sing inmate released six weeks earlier. The other two flee. The victims Vincent Klemmer and Lawrence McCarthy recounted the abduction and orders to drive toward Long Island. The incident prompted an official check at police headquarters.
El Paso Texas reports reveal gunfire as Mexican rumrunners attacked border patrol. Officers found whisky valued above $400 abandoned and evidence suggesting at least one assailant was wounded. Patrolmen pursued and secured the contraband amid hostile fire.
Detroit story of a wealthy Thomas A. Newton who killed himself in a Miami hotel after an alleged "experiment" with Mrs Dorothy March to test if she would leave husband Benjamin March. Vivian Johnson, six, sustained likely fatal burns when her dress ignited from an open gas heater at 1318 Vine Street yesterday. Stepfather Marshall Totten, 25, was severely burned on hands and arms trying to extinguish the flames. Life Saving Squad responders rushed Vivian to General Hospital. Totten later hospitalized. He said his wife was boiling clothes on the heater and the child played nearby.
