Detectives say the murder of Walter Hall 41 a laborer from 1002 Elm Street Saturday night was premeditated based on new evidence. A warning phone message a week earlier urged him to avoid his route and a threat tied to Eighth Street and Central Avenue is noted. Background details include a woman named in rumors and a man named Morris still sought by police after the slaying and related wounding at 211 West Court Street. Chief White Eagle also known as William Cook of Camden is jailed in Gloucester County on a false pretense charge. Miss Florence Willey, school principal, says he received money she lent that was never repaid. Sheriff Stratton arrested him after a Riverside school lecture and he awaits Monday hearing.
In Chillicothe Ohio two robbers forced Ellis Fennessey into their car last night driving to Yoctangee Park where they stripped him of his outer garments and left him in only his under clothes. He reached the police station and was given clothes to go home.
A satirical notice at Livingston Hall mocks suicide appeals by urging survivors to consider others. It lists steps such as reading authors and visiting nightclubs before death, and suggests leaving a note with cynical quotes as a final gesture.
In Chicago on March 20 the jury for 129 furniture manufacturers and sellers remained deadlocked since Thursday noon. The defendants face Sherman Antitrust Act violations. Federal Judge Carpenter offered no timetable for further deliberations or jury position.
In Cleveland on March 20 Edna Stowe aged 19 collapsed from carbon monoxide from a gas heater in her bathroom. Three tanks of oxygen were exhausted in a successful effort to revive her.
The Van Sweringen Company has acquired about 4000 acres southeast of Cleveland for a proposed Shaker country estates district. The plan includes a system of super highways and a 600 foot wide parkway. Details will be presented to County Commissioners this week by company officials.
In Cincinnati a Municipal Court freed two Russian wolfhounds and a Pinscher owned by Mrs G A Rent schler after a $1,500 bond was posted. The dogs were seized at the Cincinnati Kennel Club show over a $750 veterinary bill claimed by Dr Jacob J Hoffmann. The case, with Mrs Rent schler returning the dogs to Hamilton, will proceed before Judge Samuel W Bell when she returns from Europe in May. Mrs Rent schler is related to Gordon Rentschler of National City Bank NY.
