Lawrence says President Coolidge will likely sign the House insurance bonus bill almost as drafted. A sinking fund plan spreads the cost over twenty years, with a maximum annual expense of 110 million dollars, not viewed as a burden.
Special Correspondent reports President Coolidge is likely to sign the veteran endowment insurance bill if the Senate does not materially alter it. The plan costs over two billion dollars over twenty years, uses a sinking fund, and allows loans against policies with strict repayment terms to discourage default.
The War Department confirms that General Enrique Estrada fled aboard a steamer as Part of the failed uprising in Jalisco and Michoacan. Rivera forces detain troops to stop Figueroa from joining Maycotte rebels in Oaxaca while Interior turns over Barbosa killings to military inquiry for alleged terror in Tehuacan Puebla.
Guy Bryant of Beavertown was allowed to plead guilty to manslaughter for the killing of Russell Sonday near Lebanon. The judge cited overcrowding at the Ohio Penitentiary and a prior suspect’s wife’s arrest in suspending a harsher sentence. Bryant confessed after his wife was released on bond and described restraining Sonday and hiding the body in the Little Miami River.
Washington report states the last stick of type set by President Harding was turned over to Frank B. Noyes of The Associated Press by W. F. Thompson publisher of the Fairbanks News-Miner. The type was used during Harding’s July visit to Fairbanks and will be formally presented at the AP annual meeting in New York by Secretary of Agriculture Wallace.

Frank B. Cowdery was removed from his card agent role in Frumbull County by Attorney General Crabbe. Today he appeared as attorney for John Tragessor, an Eagles' Club steward linked to recent raids. Tragessor was arrested last week during a police raid.
State wide investigation ordered by Attorney General Crabbe into alleged abuses by Justices of the Peace and inferior courts in enforcing prohibition laws. The inquiry stems from charges by Federal Judge John M. Killits of Toledo against Lucas County Justices and constables, and involves prohibition officers.
In Glens Falls New York on March 19 a three year old girl named Anne Esther Alkeris died within thirty minutes after ingesting tobacco mixed in water given by her mother as medicine. The cautionary death certificate says the dose was given through parental ignorance and follows a neighbor’s recommendation.
Police detain Charles Wilkins Dillard Davis and B F Tarpley after the slaying of Dr Zoe Wilkins wife of late banker Thomas W Cunningham of Joplin Missouri. A will and valuables valued about 100000 are missing and a federal alienation suit against Wilkins is noted.
In Lawrenceburg Kentucky on March 19 Mrs Fannie Tipton 56 was found guilty of murdering her daughter in law Jessie Thomas Tipton 18 by poisoning after a month long marriage. The jury set life imprisonment after seven and a half hours of deliberation.
A bobbed-haired woman bandit, matching a Brooklyn thief profile, robbed a leather goods shop in Manhattan tonight taking 75. She padlocked the front door and the merchant Abraham Tasim pounded on the glass, attracting passers-by who fled as police freed him.
Philadelphia attorney Martin J. Powers faces fraud charges after affidavits allege he claimed to use connections with Attorney General Daugherty and Washington officials to buy government refrigerator machinery for 17 million and to reopen breweries. He denied the allegations and posted 3000 bail.

In Los Angeles on March 19 the Greer case against Courtland S. Dines saw new facts. Medical evidence shows three bullets instead of one wounded Dines. Dines admitted drunkenness and rage at Normand leaving the apartment. Miss Purviance testified Normand entered the bedroom after the shooting. Greer jailed with $3,000 bail to answer in Superior Court.
Government forces in Southern Bolivia captured Yacuiba from rebels, in a report from Embarcacion. Three rebels were killed amid the fighting.
McAdoo held a commanding lead over Underwood for Georgia's 28 Democratic National Convention delegates as returns from the March 19 primary came in. Early tallies show McAdoo at 250 votes to 64 for Underwood, with Cobb Bibb and Chatham Counties backing McAdoo. The state convention is set for Atlanta on April 23.
In North Dakota on March 19 unofficial returns from 1,217 of 2,058 precincts show Calvin Coolidge leading with about 37,287 votes to 22,283 for La Follette and 22,272 for Johnson. La Follette’s strong showing surprised observers, while Johnson’s backers blame a striker campaign for siphoning Johnson support.
Chicago March 19 William M Butler manager of Coolidge headquarters claims President Coolidge's aid to agriculture strengthens his North Dakota primary support. He says farmers feel the President understands their problems and seeks relief based on his farming experience.
North Carolina's 24 delegates to the Republican national convention were instructed for Calvin Coolidge by the state convention meeting in Raleigh. The delegation carries a voting strength of twenty four.
Eighteen sailors remained alive today inside Submarine 43 after it sank off Sasebo following a collision with the warship Tatsuta during maneuvers. Rescue teams tapped messages through the hull as the 800 ton submarine lay in twenty six fathoms of water ten miles from the harbor. four officers and forty sailors were lost in the incident.
In northeast Japan the dirigible caught fire and burned. The commander’s body was found in the wreckage and the four crew members were recovered after they reportedly jumped from the craft. It had been en route from Kasumigaura Naval Aviation School to Yokosuka Naval Base.
In Baltimore, March 19, 17 year old Russell Gibson tried to defend his mother, Mrs Annie Gibson Strabel, from her estranged husband James L Gibson who attacked her with a chair. Russell produced a .25 caliber pistol, fired at his father as his mother stepped forward, resulting in the mother’s fatal chest wound and two self defense shots striking the father.
Eugene S. Howard, formerly with Procter & Gamble and National Life Insurance, was named Controller of the YMCA in a new centralization plan. The board, after months of study, will standardize business processes, create a central purchasing office, and oversee four restaurants, five dormitories, and four summer camps with a $640000 annual business. Walter W. Bruns will resign as Educational Secretary effective May 1 with April 1 transition. Dormville’s Henry F. Beebe joins the Central Committee of management.
Chief Justice Curtis D. Wilbur is sworn in as Secretary of the Navy in the state building court room. He says future navy statements should come from Washington after talks with the President and Navy leaders. Justice Lawlor administers oath. Rear Admiral Harry Simpson and other naval officials attend.
Cleveland police report a crash late today on the Cleveland Southwestern and Columbus interurban line near Fairview village. Chris Hansen aged 45 was killed and four others were injured, one seriously. Tony Magire aged 30 is believed to have a fractured skull.
