A lightning bolt struck Music Hall in Cincinnati at 5 45 pm shattering the stone spear atop the south hall and crashing through the roof. Miss Eleanor Bain, at a phone nearby, was stunned but uninjured thanks to a ring grounding the current. wiring damage followed with lights out in the restaurant and rotunda. repairs were swift.
In Columbus on March 19, the Ohio Democratic state central committee backed a May 21 presidential primary for all Democratic hopefuls and set a June 4-5 state convention in Toledo for governor and state officers. Harmon supporters prevailed over anti Harmon factions, with George Long of Troy named chairman and James C. Devine of Cleveland sergeant at arms. Delegates to the state convention to be chosen by county committees.
Ohio Republican executive committee meeting in Columbus backed Taft renomin ation with sixty two counties represented and messages from leaders like Burton and Longworth. Resolution praised Taft’s administration and pledged support for renomination amid Roosevelt comments and internal party debate.
In Fargo North Dakota Senator La Follette carried the presidential preference primaries with a large margin over Roosevelt. In Columbus Ohio on March 19 delegates opposed to direct initiative and referendum tore apart the caucus plan at the constitutional convention. D F Anderson of Mahoning County led the attack, while William Worthington of Hamilton County declared against any form of initiative. The labor committee also endorsed an eight hour day and forty eight hour week for public works and workmen liability insurance.

In Osborn’s home county, supervisors meeting voted 35 to 5 for Taft, as delegates tally continued.
