Beaumont Texas report confirms three additional arrests in the Mattie Bennett gang case. Suspects are white men. sheriff withheld names and details to avoid hindering continuing investigations. One is believed to be the gang’s riverboat body hauler. The arrests follow a week after a Bennett woman’s confession.

In Tipton Indiana Sidley Oram, living northwest of town, died last evening from severe burns after her clothes caught fire days earlier. A few hours before death she insisted her daughter Gertrude, 19, be married at her bedside, and the ceremony was performed per the mother's dying wish.
