An anarchist, Aleko Schinas, shot King George I of Greece in Salonika as he walked with an aide. The King died at Papasion Hospital on the King’s fiftieth ascension anniversary. Precautions were taken to prevent mob lynching. Constantine to succeed.
The Ohio House rejected the recall amendment 55 to 68, after debates led by Rep. Diser and supported by Hamilton County members. A separate measure to fund road improvements passed 91 to 22, authorizing a half mill tax to raise 3.6 million dollars with two-thirds of funds for counties and a quarter for state highway work, using convict labor on main markets roads.
