Huge narcotic ring busted in New Orleans case
Federal agents arrested August Scontrino, alleged head of a large narcotic operation, along with Angelo Pinez and Daniel Gold. A fleet of eleven cars and 25 000 pounds of ammunition were seized. 125 ounces of narcotics were arranged for sale at 500 dollars per ounce, with two ounces delivered as samples. Senate votes to probe canal plan as Ohio bones rattle again
In Columbus Ohio the Senate approved a canal investigating committee by 19 to 10 to study feasibility of improving the defunct Miami and Erie Canal for barge use.
