The blast shattered five feet of front and smashed windows blocks away. Fire and police arrived as the building’s foundations were damaged and woodwork splintered. Greenwald, a Weber Foundry director, narrowly escaped with his two children.
John Bennett an insurance agent is found dead at the foot of a 125 foot cliff near Paterson after a quarrel on the summit. Authorities seek an unknown woman heard arguing with a man shortly before the body was found.
In Scranton on Wyoming Avenue two young women from respectable families became principals in a fatal shooting. Emma Lee fired two shots at Mrs. Charles Welden who was pushing a carriage with a three month old baby. Welden died within thirty minutes. Lee surrendered, claiming Welden had talked about her.
Two youths discovered a decomposed woman’s body in Bloody Run near Avondale and Norwood. Officials could not determine age or cause of death. body sent to Morgue after initial examination.
