Rome Wire Company of Rome New York filed in Common Pleas Court for a receiver to manage the Triumph Electric Company of Oakley claiming an eight thousand two hundred two dollar debt and large undisclosed liabilities. The petition argues a controller was appointed in 1923 to oversee finances and that without a receiver assets would dissipate, harming creditors. The company shows solvent assets exceed liabilities if properly protected and notes ongoing contracts and orders with thousands of employees. Charles C. Farman, owner of a bacteriology school, admitted giving typhoid germs to William D. Shepherd, foster father of the murdered heir William Nelson McClintock, as part of a supposed million-dollar scheme. Shepherd allegedly offered $20,000 to keep quiet and share the fortune, while Farman said the germs were meant to inoculate the boy to obtain the McClintock fortune. The gift allowed Hofmann to return to Europe study under Rubinstein and later become a famed pianist. He was born in Cracow in 1876 and came to America at age seven seeking to help his poor family.
