Her father paid a $59 bill in Cleveland and she was brought home, then rearrested on a petit larceny charge by George C Berry and Sons for allegedly stealing $16 worth of cut glass from their store. Identifications were made by workers at the Faust residence search.
The Penitentiary Board signed a contribution to employ 300 convicts, mostly cripples and invalids, unable to perform heavy labor. Arthur T. Hollock will supply the men to make gloves, aiding idle prisoners housed at the facility.
Jesse B. Harris of Tennessee, long serving Navy Secretary doorkeeper, has been detailed by Secretary Long as assistant to Lieutenant C. M. McCormick in charge of the naval exhibit at the Nashville exposition.

LONDON March 1 Aged 61 Hon Sir Edward Kay Lord Justice of Appeal is dead. Born 1822 he became a judge of the Supreme Court in 1881 and was knighted succeeding Sir T Cotton as Lord Justice of Appeal in the prerogative court.
Jeffersonville Ind March 16 The transfer of 917 prisoners from Prison South to Prison North at Michigan City will be a unique event. Seventy seven are serving ten years or longer eighty eight life inmates are included. The group features many who have prior escapes and multiple sentences. The exact removal method remains secret until the day of move.
Cleveland report March 16 details a fatal accident at the Emma Blast Furnace where three workers died after a sequence of explosions in the seething molten mass. Several others were injured by flying iron while trenches were being cleared. The injured were John O Rourke John Burns and Antonio Molinaski. They were taken to St Alexis Hospital.

He declares he is the inventor of an electrical dental machine and that the company formed to manufacture it tried to oust him and rob him of his salary.
London March 16 Parliament’s Committee of Inquiry into the Transvaal Raid heard Hon W P Schreiner former Attorney General in Cecil Rhodes cabinet repeat prior Cape Colony testimony. He maintained a strongly anti-Rhodes position throughout the session.
An epidemic of diphtheria strikes Cedarville with a public funeral for W Tonkel’s daughter. Two days later another child attending the services becomes ill and dies, with several mourners reportedly sick.
A weekly newspaper edited and printed by convicts at Jeffersonville will debut once the reformatory is ready. The paper will replace Hot Drops, which was printed in red ink at the prison by Joe Busg.
Charcoal the Indian, a cover for Sergeant Wilde of the North Mounted Police, was executed in Winnipeg Manitoba on March 16. He gave three aloft whoops as he neared the scaffold, carried up the stairs due to leg infirmity.

In Chicago on March 16 a fire at William Spier’s Vernon avenue home trapped Barbara Newman 18 niece of Spier on the top floor who died from burns. Rose Mayfield 16 another niece jumped from a second story window burned on hands and face and possibly recovered. William Spier 40 and Mrs Spier 38 were burned or overcome by smoke while neighbors rescued the invalid owner and his wife and children barely escaped as the roof fell.
Three unknown mountain men drowned at Lock No 6 on the Kentucky River after their log raft became unmanageable and went over the dam. The incident occurred near Lawrenceburg as news reached the area.
Jacob Knoblauch a retired confectioner in Trenton shot himself on his wife’s grave in Greenwood Cemetery today. He had been melancholy since her death.

A cruiser report from Havana says a train carrying six hundred Spanish troops was blown up by Cuban mines at a fifty foot bridge over St Carman Channel. Over three hundred soldiers were killed or missing and many survivors were burned. Cuban and Spanish casualties included dozens killed and about forty Cuban losses.
Reports from Havana say General Maximo Gomez, famed insurgent leader, is seriously wounded in the clash near Arroyo Blanco in Santa Clara province, where Spanish forces under General Bernal met Gomez’s insurgents.

Miss Nettie Van Voorhees, a minister's daughter from Bladensburg Ohio, died by suicide after three months of illness. She disappeared from home and was found drowned in a pond after jumping into the water in her night clothing.

Rouse were cited to appear in Criminal Court next Thursday to show cause why they should not be jailed for contempt. Chicago March 16 a test of bullet proof cloth invented by Brother Casimir Zeigler of St Stanislaus Polish Church showed two pieces roughly a foot by two feet withstanding firing for an hour. One bullet pierced the fabric and the force was spent enough that the board behind was hardly dented. The crude fabric is thick and leather like but promises to live up to claims.
Mayor Strong extends invitation to Governor Bushnell and Ohio troops to attend the April 27 transfer ceremonies for the Grant Monument in New York City. He plans escort possibly with Troop A from Cleveland and the First Infantry from Cincinnati.
Evansville Indiana March 16 neighborhood gossip led Anna Louise Nummensen wife of a local grocer to shoot herself in the right temple. Her mother visited and recalled the gossip prompting the act as Nummensen grabbed a pistol behind the counter and fired in front of customers.
In Cleveland on March 16 a Common Pleas Court jury ruled Charles M. Cunningham sane after a second sanity inquiry. He is accused of forging Judge E. T. Hamilton’s name on a $75 000 check and was arrested after failing to obtain funds. The defense cited Colorado injuries from a mus tang as a possible insanity cause. Cunningham had earlier been arrested in Elmira N Y for a similar offense and pardoned from Auburn Prison. He faces trial on the forgery charge.
Columbus, March 16. Ray Kayler, newly appointed Railroad Commissioner, assumed his duties this afternoon. Edward H. Archer of Columbus, longtime head of the Speakers' Bureau for the Republican State Committee, is named Chief Clerk, replacing W B Gaitree who has resigned. Further changes are anticipated.
Charles Rodatinsky his wife and baby were traveling by covered wagon toward Omaha when a gasoline stove exploded just after departure. The team bolted and before help arrived the wagon occupants were fatally burned.
