The Cincinnati College of Music sends a pale blue catalog with the motto Absque Labore Nihil and a study of curricula. It closes with a list of graduates since 1891 92 and a booklet "In the Footsteps of Our Students" profiling notable alumni. The academic year opens Monday September 2.
Norwood's fifth annual chautauqua begins Friday at Williams avenue school grounds with Bohumir Kryl and his 30 piece band July 23. Also on the program July 21 22 and 23 are Princess Watahwaso Indian soprano Antonio Sala Company Gay Zenda MacLaren and Lydia Lindgren. Opening day features the Liberty Girls and William Rainey Bennet known as The Man Who Can. Proceeds go to war charities.
Guests gathered Sunday at the Sharpe residence to celebrate Mary Jane Sharpe's birthday anniversary. Attending were Henry Staver J Best Ida Arndt Ivy Staver Walter Best Minnie Van Hagen and others. Mrs Vorhis and Mrs DeCamp visited relatives in Ohio.

A farewell reception for Mr. W Steinkoenig was given at the Higgins home before his departure to Jackson Michigan. A lawn party hosted by Mr. and Mrs W White followed with supper on the lawn and guests including Sherman Martin Landers Feger Neans and others. Mrs P H Dowling returned to Toledo after visiting Judge and Mrs S W Bell. Various ladies hosted sewing bees and card afternoons honoring multiple local guests.

Hazel Garwood returns home after a two week visit with sister Mrs Joseph Hayner. Mr and Mrs Volney Elston came back from a steamer trip to Pittsburg and plan a visit to Martinsville Ind. The Nash Phillips engagement is announced with a wedding planned this autumn.
Mr and Mrs Samuel Irvine of Sandusky Ohio concluded a three week visit with their son John Irvine and family in North Hyde Park Oakley. J W Ellins family including Esther Elizabeth and Helen and son Robert left Monday to N Lakewood Ohio. Mrs James R Jordan hosted a gathering.

Emmy Destinn once a leading Metropolitan soprano is banned from performing in Prague on grounds she offered her services to the Czecho Slovak agitation. She had planned to sing there amid anti Austrian demonstrations and to visit a Prague castle she owned.

A Monday luncheon for Miss Florence Schideler of Pleasant Ridge precedes her departure to Oakland California at month end with her sister. Numerous guests attended events including knitting parties, garden suppers, and a birthday reception for Mrs Kraus. Dr Esther Jeffries spoke at the Woman's City Club Monday about Social Hygiene. She attacked immodest dress by girls and argued it hinders government efforts to foster purity in the army and navy. She urged mothers to educate daughters on sex issues.
Government female workers in Washington signified a strong wish to learn swimming. Miss Margery Day, director of Girls' Work, forms a corps of swimming instructors to serve war workers across government divisions, meeting the high demand from war stockers via the District War Camp Community Service.
Miss Belle Sherwin praises Cincinnati women for leading war work in the state at the first annual meeting of the Women's Committee of the National Council for Cincinnati and Hamilton County. A luncheon for 300 plus attendees featured allied flag decor. Officers including Mrs. Hoadly and Miss Shillito were re elected. reports highlighted food production conservation war bonds thrift stamps and nurses training. Donations established nursing scholarships and the committee urged enforcement of labor laws protecting women and mothers in factories.
The Cincinnati Branch names Mrs. Thomas P. Scully Dr. Eliza Edwards and Miss Alice Engelhardt as delegates to the annual convention at the Linton Hotel from July 16 to 19.
