A flood swollen Los Angeles River bridge collapsed trapping and fatally injuring an elderly woman. Rescue teams searched the wreckage and authorities warned of potential additional casualties as the incident halted traffic and river activity remained hazardous.
A historic storm lashers the coast with wind up to 100 miles per hour and floods. The Seventh Street Bridge over the Los Angeles River collapsed, drowning or nearby missing twelve to fifteen people, while the Ninth Street Bridge threatens collapse. Los Angeles and nearby towns face severe disruption as floods, washouts, and damaged infrastructure mount.

Mamie Powers an 18 year old girl in East St. Louis Illinois was robbed and struck by hysteria after a street encounter. Music and singing by Will McGraw and others calmed her repeatedly and doctors believe soothing songs may restore her health.
Washington March 13 The Senate intends to complete ratify and adjourn this week executive session discussed ways and means to allow full debate and a 11 am daily meeting to finish the Santo Domingo treaty One amendment was offered by Senator Bacon to fund army and navy costs from Santo Domingo revenues.
J F Cordova pastor of Conklin Methodist Episcopal Church South River stands trial on assault and abandonment charges after two elopements with the blacksmith’s daughter Julia Bowne. Bowne refuses bail and stays loyal to Cordova as his wife testifies. Cordova says he left home May 17 seeking life apart from his wife.
In Bridgeport Connecticut today the jury saw the carcass of a pig shown during the murder trial of Paul H Schmidt. Defense medical experts used the dressed animal to demonstrate gunshot wound effects from various distances to support self defense claim after a struggle for gun possession.
