Herman E. Atkins, a Brooklyn photoengraver, filed suit for separation alleging his wife attempted to kill herself twenty three times. He claims she used various methods including exposing herself at an open window in night attire to trigger pneumonia as part of repeated attempts.
William McCoy died after trying to rescue his sweetheart Dixie Blackburn whose foot was trapped on a railway trestle near Williamson West Virginia. The train struck him and tossed him into a ravine fifty feet away as Miss Blackburn was killed.
Seven bodies were recovered today from the Missouri Athletic Club ruins, raising the total dead to thirty with eleven identified. The club register aided identification amid ongoing inquiries by a municipal committee and coroner.
