In Knoxville on March 12 Miss Lucy Fanz daughter of Joseph Fanz a retired businessman jumped from a railroad bridge into the Tennessee River. She had suffered a long illness that impaired her mind. Her father escorted her near the river when she suddenly cast herself over the railing. A rescue party searched the river but found no remains as debris swirled in the high water. The Fanz family is highly respected in the city.

A man named Sam Robertson fatally wounded Minnie Marshall at a negro festival in La Grange. Robertson resisted arrest and fired on officers. he was killed by Town Marshal Victor Lee with a single shot. Robertson was described as a desperate character feared by the community.

Philadelphia reports John Williams aged 28 and his wife Margaret aged 2 were asphyxiated by illuminating gas at their home 2307 Waverly Street. Authorities believe the deaths resulted from an accident.
