James G. Fisk renews push for a state bacteriological exam of school bathhouses, arguing local testing cannot identify germs. The board voted to urge the city Health Board to conduct the examination, with four to six days needed for analysis. Mothers urge state oversight while a hearing on school sites is requested by residents.
Noonday evangelistic services opened yesterday at Pekin Theater Pekin Fifth and Smith streets led by Dr. W A Blackwell pastor of St John A M E Zion Church George and Mound streets aimed at reach of colored people without church homes.

Voters open polls 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for a special election on the Green Line franchise. Board of Elections reports 1,491 registered during last minute registration, many first time voters and movers. Committee leader Dr. Bradford predicts a large defeat for the franchise, citing widespread concern and recent campaign misrepresentation. Returns expected tonight at the Voters' Committee HQ with 558 postal ballots tallied: 446 for, 92 against.
Thomas McHugh 55 a B and O switchman of 626 Neave Street was found dead in his home early yesterday. Police and Coroner Foertmeyer investigated after a blood trail from 670 State Avenue suggested an attack. Mrs Kate Stengel and daughter Marie heard quarrelling in front of their home around midnight. McHugh returned home about midnight and was later found dead in the kitchen. Dr Oliver P Coe performed the postmortem locating a broken nose but death attributed to valvular heart disease.
Patrolman Henry Lammert was attacked by inmates Albert Mahon and Charles Henderson while en route to the Second District Police Station. Lammert sustained a deep wound above the eye and was aided by Dr Hall before returning home. Mahon, a 24 year old blind man from Chicago, repeatedly threatened to jump from the patrol wagon while Henderson struck Lammert. both men were charged with drunkenness and Henderson faces an assault and battery count.
Thousands visit the new Mabley and Carew annex on East Fifth Street in Cincinnati at opening time the crowd grows as hours pass. The boomed building boom signals confidence in local business with Pogue’s $500 000 addition Irwin’s West Fifth store and other projects cited. The annex features a remarkable fountain praised by visitors including out of town travelers who call it the handsomest soda fountain in the country.
City owned properties line the north side of Goodman street where a new hospital fence sits at the curb. An informal meeting of the Ways and Means and Street and Park Committees heard a protest seeking repeal of the ordinance that granted sidewalk use and restoration of the twelve foot abandoned path.
The first dress rehearsal of Pan and the Star includes the full cast solo dancers and the orchestra. The Cincinnati MacDowell Club presents the elaborate production at Emery Auditorium tonight and Thursday evening. Union Savings Bank and Trust Co. informs customers that the 3 percent interest rate applies to deposits earned semiannually. Interest will be credited from March 1, with savings credited before March 10.
Mrs. A. Tort of 2202 Fulton avenue reported a man, about five feet eight, slender, in a gray suit and soft gray hat, broke a large plate-glass window of the front door after asking for a nickel and then boarded a Zoo-Eden car. Police have a description for investigation.
Miss Diana Hirschler of New York City visiting Cincinnati to inspect the retail field. She originated courses for training salespeople and promotes vocational work in public schools. Her method, begun in Boston, emphasizes teaching salespeople to think. She will stay in Cincinnati until Thursday.
F H Ralston of Philadelphia will speak at the Advertisers' Club weekly luncheon at the Hotel Gibson on Wednesday. Newly introduced members last week will occupy the head of the table.
