Ohio coal operators oppose miners wage increase

A Cleveland conference of about 150 Ohio coal operators debated the miners demand for higher pay. No formal action was reported, but attendees unanimously opposed a 56.55 percent wage increase and planned to send a 100-operator delegation to Indianapolis on March 19 to resist any raise.

Paymaster injured in clash with striker at New York work site

William A. Maloney, a paymaster for Post & McCord, was burned and cut when a man he says was a striker hurled a bottle filled with ammo at him at a building site employing nonunion workers. Maloney fired his revolver to draw aid after falling to the ground.

Soldier slays woman in jealousy before self in Cincinnati

Dennis Klebber a 26 year old United States soldier stationed at Fort Thomas attacked Lucile Beduit at 609 Central Avenue in Cincinnati. He slashed her with a razor a dozen times then turned the blade on himself severing his windpipe. Beduit survived while Klebber died at City Hospital after leaving a note to his parents claiming he would die. Police linked the crime to a planned murder suicide prompted by rejection.
