In Muncie Indiana on March 6 Columbus Bertram aged 53 shot himself after discovering his house flooded by rising water and died shortly afterward. Police report he was subject to heart disease and the scene was found with the house surrounded by water.
Fred Reed seventeen year old son of Charles Reed of North Manchester was shot and killed on a hunting trip near Wabash Indiana. He and a companion named Balinger rested on a fence when Fred’s rifle slipped from his hand and discharged into his breast.
Kit Bolton, long sought by authorities, was found dead in Hindman Ky with a bullet hole in his temple. Police believe he died by his own hand after evading arrest for months.
Private dispatches from Washington report the Uncompaghre Reservation bill may have passed and Cleveland signed it. Settlers surged into Gilsonite lands near Price Utah with 500 to 600 armed by noon while officials denied open entry. Troops were requested to move claimants off and restore order as the Interior Secretary ordered troops to Ft Duchesne.

MAYFIELD Ky March 6 Oscar Sanders and Jimmie Williams of Wingo were sentenced to life imprisonment for murder.
Major W L Alexander becomes Chief Commissary for the Department of Colorado. Captain Henry C Ward of the Sixteenth Infantry is set to represent the War Department at the Tennessee Exposition. Lt J F Morrison moves to Ft Leavenworth Cavalry School. Captain Bliss leaves Adjutant General’s office for Ft Monroe as Quartermaster. Lt F M Caldwell joins Wisconsin National Guard duty. Lt W E B Stottler moves from Mescaleros Agency to Pueblo and Ticurilla Reveny New Mexico. Nordstrom to replace Stottleer at Mescalero Agency.
Portsmouth March 6 Captain Chas A Goddard of Franklin Furnace announces his bid for the Republican nomination for Member Board of Public Works to succeed Colonel Grace.
Mrs. Henry Baumgartner of Bremen was fatally burned when an oil can exploded as she poured contents into a stove. The accident occurred in LaPorta on March 6, with authorities investigating the blast.
In Dayton Ohio 300 families are forced to abandon homes or move to upper floors as the Miami River bank collapses north of the city. Elsewhere in Bloomington Indiana, a flood-damaged area reports one death Owen Knight and extensive rail damage on the Monon line and washed embankments.
The report notes extremely light activity with less than half an inch of change recorded on government instruments since Thursday. No notable events or measurements beyond the small dampened movement are reported.
Wilmington Ohio faced record rainfall that flooded farmlands and damaged rail lines. Bridges were destroyed fences swept away and the county roads cut into gulches. The C P and W line is open only to Williamsburg with washouts toward Cincinnati. Batavia Junction partially washed away while Chesapeake and Ohio and Baltimore and Ohio Southwestern from Hamden remain operational. Rainfall in the city was described but not completed.

Akron March 6 a woman is linked to a burglary gang active in the area with signs of her foot traffic seen at multiple scenes. One resident awoke to an attempted forced entry and reported a woman fleeing the premises.
ST LOUIS March 6 Lizzie McDobain a 10 year old girl living with foster parents shot herself through the right lung last night. She is dying at City Hospital. The child left a note saying she was tired of living and wanted to be with her mother.
Washington March 8 President McKinley issued a proclamation convoking Congress in extra session for Monday March 15. The proclamation announces the purpose and scope of the special session, calling for urgent legislation and national concerns to be addressed.
