The will of Fred W. Upham former National Treasurer of the Republican party and president of Consumers' Company filed in Chicago on March 4 shows an estate valued at about 250000 dollars. The widow Mrs Helen Hall Upham receives the bulk of the estate including a 50000 dollar gift to nephew Fred Upham Everhard of Ripon Wisconsin. Sister Mrs Catherine Upham Everhard is provided a life income of 500 dollars a month and Frank Everhard receives 5000 dollars.
George W. Hook a Hamilton County salesman began a jail term rather than consent to vaccinate his five children aged three to twelve. Judge Charles W. Hoffman had given a week for compliance or alternative actions such as moving, tutoring, or vaccination. The case centers on education and public health mandates for school attendance and vaccination.
Governor McLean said he would defer action on Georgia extradition requests to return Gutzon Borglum until the habeas corpus hearing in Greensboro is resolved and the North Carolina General Assembly session ends. Borglum was arrested last Saturday night in Greensboro and the hearing is set for Saturday.
