Washington March 2 The sixty fifth Congress nears its final day amid a mountain of legislation with the Victory Loan bill passed by the House and sent to the Senate. House and Senate plan steady work through adjournment to Tuesday noon.
Cloudy conditions with chances of rain or snow on Monday and Tuesday across Ohio West Virginia and Kentucky. Temperature trends show moderating highs with colder nights and a mix of rain and snow possible. Cincinnati records a March 2 1919 low and high with light precipitation totals and notable temperature swings.
Miss Docie White aged 22 was shot dead at her home in Marion Ohio. Her companion Lee Patterson aged 24 was wounded and her mother narrowly escaped. Eric Herman a railroad worker used the last bullet on himself, suffering only a slight wound. Herman was arrested within 30 minutes. Jealousy is cited as a motive.
Berlin reports that a placard at the American Embassy entrance announced that German officers cannot apply for commissions in the American or Japanese armies. The notice comes amid ongoing rumors of attractive pay and persistent, though debunked, speculation.
Muskegon March 2 The unknown fishing tug believed lost after a failed port approach in a high gale may have survived the storm and reached Milwaukee coast guard patrols report no wreckage or signs of the boat, now thought to be Milwaukee based.
New York March 2 A resolution asking President Wilson to demand the resignation of Postmaster General Burleson was adopted at a meeting of District Council No 16 of the Commercial Telegraphers Union representing city operators.

Shale deposits in Colorado Utah and Wyoming could yield 70 billion barrels. Navy and Shipping Board fuel needs for 1919 total about 35.2 million barrels. Most Navy oil comes from Kansas Oklahoma and Northern Texas with some from the Gulf coast fields.
Attorney General Gregory asks President Wilson to commute hundreds of espionage act sentences after a Justice Department review found many convictions relied on circumstantial intent. He cites intense juror patriotism as a factor and rejects indiscriminate amnesty for political prisoners. The president may act before his Paris trip.
The Irish Fellowship Club held memorial services for members who died serving the colors. Over 500 attended as President Edward T. Dixon praised Eugene Scanlon Howard Griffin Joseph Dermody Robert Burns and William Harrison. Erie Pa March 2 United States officers with state troopers conducted raids on hotels cabs and resorts arresting 206 men and women. Two new ships the Wisconsin Bridge and the Milwaukee Bridge were launched today at the Submarine Boat Company yards in Newark New Jersey. The vessels were sponsored by Mrs. E D Coddington and Miss Ruth Trimborn of Milwaukee.
