At least four persons burned to death and many injured in a West End five and ten store fire following an afternoon explosion in St. Louis. About thirty customers and forty employees were inside. firemen removed charred bodies, including Tony Henderson, 16, and a young girl. Cause not yet determined though reports said fireworks were set off in the store.

Tragic Drowning of Tolliver Boys Near Bridgeport
In Bridgeport, Ohio, brothers Joseph Tolliver Jr. and William Tolliver, aged 14 and 11, drowned while fishing in the Little Miami River in front of their home. Their mother, Florence Tolliver, watched as the elder struggled in a deep hole and the younger tried to help before both were swept under State Route 123 bridge. A Newport store manager hurled tin cans at a bandit attempting to blackjack him. Two Buses Fall Into Ditch Injures Twenty Two
In Mahoning County Ohio a Detroit bound Nevin Bus Line coach driven by Jack Irvine and a second bus were involved in a crash six miles south of Youngstown. Twenty two of twenty seven passengers were injured. The second bus from Youngstown to Columbiana went into a ditch three miles southwest of Canfield with seven passengers shaken but continuing on. Deputy Sheriff L C Parker planned to question the two drivers Eugene Pasquale and Jack Irvine. Pasquale blamed a slower auto ahead and sudden braking leading to wheel lock and skid into a culvert.

Fifteen Endangered by Fumes in Kentucky Blaze

Harrison Strunk a 30 year old truck driver from West Eighth street told United States Commissioner Harry Neal Smith by letter that he was too busy to appear in court on a Mann white slave act charge. He was transporting Madeline from Florence Kentucky to Fort Minton Tennessee for immoral purposes last September. Since then he has married the girl, so Commissioner Smith dismissed the case.
