At Roosevelt Field New York Francis Phillips twenty one year old son of the late John M Phillips known as the Queens Sewer Pipe King died as his two seater plane crashed after taking off. He was trapped by a safety belt and burned while mechanics and flyers tried to rescue him. His passenger Henry R Goldsmith died later in hospital from burns and injuries sustained in the crash.
