Mrs. Andrew Wetzel of Fifth street and Broadway died after a gasoline explosion in a second floor bathroom above her husband's saloon. She had placed two gallons of gasoline in a tub and lit fumes with a water heater causing a flash that burned her head, body, arms, and face and wrecked part of the building.
