Thirteen Die As Wabash Train Wreck At Cass Station
A westbound St Louis limited train on the Wabash Railway derailed near Cass Station after a washout, killing thirteen aboard all Italian and injuring twenty five with others badly bruised. The Superintendent W M Carter and family escaped unharmed as engineers and firemen battled to extricate victims. The wreck left seven cars demolished and the track torn up, with telegraph slow to spread the news.
