Cotton market rises on heat and boll weevil fears
In New York on June 16 complaints of Southwest heat and widespread boll weevil activity in the Eastern belt spurred higher prices. October climbed to 23.61 cents, up 61 points with over two cents gain from last month’s low. October finished at 23.50 cents as the market closed steady with gains of 27 to 43 points. Today exports reached 40,687 bales, totaling 7,906,576 bales this season. port receipts were 20,205 bales and U S port stocks stood at 414,439 bales.
