United States Marines under Lt. Col. Huntington and Cuban forces storm a Spanish guerrilla camp five miles from the American position in Guantanamo Bay. They rout the defenders, destroy the camp and its sole well, and kill about forty Spanish fighters. One American marine is wounded and two Cubans are killed.
The House voted 209 to 91 to annex Hawaii, adopting Newlands resolutions that accept the Hawaiian cession and declare the islands annexed.
