Berlin reports Wilhelm Voight known as the captain of Koepenick has not died in London as claimed. The cobbler fooled newspapers to draw attention to himself and prompted reforms in the German empire. Voight, 57, previously seized Koepenick in 1906, arrested officials, stole about $1000, and served four years.
Special Cable reports the young prince arrives from Paris to prepare for his looming passage to the house of lords. He turns 18 on June 23 and will be proclaimed heir. The ceremony omits King George V and York House becomes his residence with tutors and a grand entourage.

Pittsburg June 13 Mrs Alexander P Moore nee Lillian Russell will take possession of a famous Pittsburg mansion noted for social leadership in years past. The house will be redecorated and luxuriously furnished as Lillian Moore plans a fall social season and a campaign.
A Boston plan to nominate Theodore Roosevelt in New York rather than Chicago spreads rapid across Roosevelt boosters. Dr. David Wagner of Springfield cites a letter from Roosevelt and says a national gathering of real progressives will nominate Roosevelt in New York, not Chicago.
June 13 report asserts J P Morgan triggered a Wall Street gold flood to break the 1907 panic. George B Cortelyou and Samuel Untermeyer are cited regarding government funds lent to banks and routed to the stock exchange, with subtreasury records showing large deposits and loan guarantees to brokers. CHICAGO June 13 Gossip in hotel corridors centers on Taft era decisions. Former Senator Charles EB Dick of Ohio is slated to head the credentials committee while former Vice President Fairbanks is expected to lead the resolutions committee. Dr. William Fletcher Penne af of Atlanta is named for a vice presidential nomination speech. Senator Newell Sanders of Tennessee is picked for chairman of the committee on permanent organization.
Cablegrams from Punta Arenas report the American steamer Virginia wrecked off Cape Horn. No owner is known. Chilean naval authorities plan rescue attempts for the passengers and crew, per United States counsel Charles L. Latham.
Roosevelt delegates in Chicago cheered as news broke that Missouri would go to Roosevelt. Francis J. Heney relayed the tidings while Senator Dixon argued the GOP cannot nominate Taft. Heney sought to move the crowd toward swift convention action and a Roosevelt nomination.
