Subway Floods Park Avenue After Water Main Burst
A break in a high pressure water main on Park Avenue near Forty second Street caused flooding of the block below Grand Central, disrupt ing the subway and street cars for hours. Cracks opened a 20 by 8 foot area, endangering adjacent buildings as water shorted third rail and series of explosions occurred. Passengers waded from a near station while one train halted nearby with no injuries.
