He led the Marietta Register for 30 years, served as Postmaster under Harrison, trustee of Marietta College, and treasurer of the Ohio Portrait Association since 1873. Died Saturday at 72 from consumption. Ohio University alumnus and classmate of Earl Cranston and David H Moore.

President O Connell reported 197 charters issued in two years 7044 members 66 approved strikes affecting 9640 machinists with 41 won 10 settled and 10 lost Locals settled 759 grievances without a strike and overtime rates gained in 765 shops He urged a law to require grand lodge consent before strikes and promoted a nine hour day for railway machinists with plans to inaugurate it and noted progress with railway machinists and changes in loan insurance sick benefits and constitution.
