Officials report between 90 and 95 percent in favor seeking higher wages and better conditions. No action will occur until final results arrive, likely by Thursday.
Officials of the locomotive engineers and switchmen threaten to call out 700 workers from Belt Railway of Chicago and Chicago and Western Indiana if demands for shorter hours and higher wages are not met. Several conferences have been held with railroad officials, who deny any strike order.

In London a hunger strike Suffragette Mary Wyan refused to leave Holloway Prison under the Cat and Mouse Act. Police and wardresses moved her to a West End nursing home then to a police station as she remained outside, declaring the government must take responsibility. She is to be sent to a public infirmary.
Representatives of the Woman's Party of Chicago urge Mayor Harrison to influence Mrs Ella Young to withdraw her resignation as Superintendent of Schools. The Mayor backs retention and plans to appoint two or three women to the seven new School Board seats to be filled tomorrow, with a list of women candidates submitted by the party.
Susie Langenegger, 12, shot herself in the head at her New York home while parents worked. A note to her mother mentions a sixth floor scam cap company and directs someone to fetch her mother. She is hospitalized at Fordham Hospital in critical condition.

From the Narra gansett Pier summer home of Mrs. Charlies Cary Rumsey a jewelry set valued at about 75 000 dollars disappeared last weekend. The theft left the room undisturbed and the dressing table drawer intact. Stolen items include a 6000 dollar pearl and ruby pendant and a 120 pearl necklace. Police search for an organ grinder and his red coated monkey as possible accomplices.
About sixty guests attended the Winchell Burt wedding on June 24 at the bride's parents home in Philadelphia. Nineteen guests developed a malignant typhoid fever after eating germ laden watercress used on the wedding breakfast. Doctor A A Cairns notes cases traced to the reception and bacteriological tests are underway. The bride and groom also fell ill after honeymooning in Brunswick Maine.
Narragansett Pier police and private detectives investigate a Saturday night jewel robbery at the home of C. C. Rumsey of Copperstown polo fame. Rumsey and Caswell suspect entry through the front door while the household slept. no sounds were heard and no one recalled suspicious activity.
Mrs Emily Ruegut aged 72 carried 25 cents and a bank book showing deposits of 3000 dollars when fined two dollars this morning. She said she had no more money, pleaded inability to work, and after refusing to pay the fine was sent to the Tombs for four days.
Governor Cox announced that notaries who allowed sworn signatures on fraudulent petitions will be prosecuted and their commissions revoked. He urged a legal limit on notaries and ordered prosecutions in multiple Ohio counties, citing wholesale delinquencies and abuse of notarial rights.
In Alberton Georgia Mack Guest fired at a supposed burglar to protect himself. His 17 year old sister was mortally wounded by the revolver blast. She staggered toward him claiming a bolt of lightning struck her. She died before help could arrive.
