Captain Robert C. Bunge of Cincinnati was cited by the War Department for gallantry in action near Montfaucon, France, on September 26, 1918. American Aviators Die in German Crash at Coblenz
July 27 two American pilots Lieutenant Carl Dery Gunther of Frankfort Indiana and General L O Rogers of Hillsboro Tennessee were killed when their airplane crashed at Weissenthurm Fila near Coblenz.
