Inquiry urged into Mrs Eddy's condition by masters

Concord July 26 special dispatch to Commercial Tribune says the masters appointed by the Superior Court to assess Mary Baker Eddy's competency for an accounting agreed to allow reasonable time for preparation. Attorney Streeter cited Eddy's age eighty seven and frail health. The hearing date was adjourned to August 13 with session at Merrimac County Courthouse. Masters are Judge Edgar Aldrich and Dr. George F. Jelly.

Estimates forges of trains at inquest fix Salem wreck impact

Northville Mich July 26 testimony at an inquest to fix responsibility for the Pere Marquette wreck at Salem last Saturday. Master Mechanic W L Kellogg estimated the striking force of the two trains at about 22 000 tons. He added no car construction could withstand such impact, not even a battleship.

Japanese Korean Treaty 15 Praised by Constitutional Party

Members of the Constitutional party in the House of Representatives approved a resolution urging rapid completion of the new convention with Korea. The aim is to remove evils, secure peace in the Far East, and advance Korea toward civilization. They cabled Marquis Ito with unanimous thanks.

M J Sloan of Warren Republican was named to the Ohio Penitentiary Board by Governor Harris to fill the vacancy left by Thomp Burton of Youngstown. He serves until March 31 1909 making the board Republican for the first time since Harris became governor. Sloan has been Warren mayor and Trumbull county prosecuting attorney and now serves as Judge Advocate General of the Ohio G A.

Magill Arrested Couple Raised Funds in Clinton

In Clinton on July 26 Fred H. Magill and his wife Faye Graham Magill arrived after being arrested in California on murder charges. Within six hours $4,000 was raised to support prosecution of the Magills for the death of Mrs. Pet Magill. State's Attorney Miller warned Sheriff Campbell to guard Magill closely to prevent possible suicide ahead of trial.

Paris July 26 The Court settled suits between the Duchess De La Rochefoucauld and the Countess Spottiswoods Mackin Miss Sally Britton of St Louis. The Countess claim for 600 for rent is sustained. The heating problem was fixed within forty eight hours and the Countess may sell the Duchess belongings to cover her claim. The Countess attachment suit is void for lateness. the Duchess receives 100 in damages and 100 for hotel move and related costs.
