Senator Benjamin Tillman of South Carolina lectured in Cincinnati at the Grand hotel during a health constrained tour. The explosion ripped through the bedroom shortly before midnight as the couple returned from a visit to his mother.
Forty two people were injured when a Big Four train from Chicago to Cincinnati derailed near Zionsville Indiana. Passengers were rushed to hospitals as cars left the track at fifty miles per hour. Several coaches overturned and one locomotive remained on the rails. A special train carried the injured to the scene and local residents aided the victims.
Dayton Ohio July 26 Thomas E Puckett of West Carrollton is in trouble over an arrest by L M Mittendorf to answer a charge. The prisoner assisted in removing several from the wreck and kept the handcuffs on during clearance. His trial will be held Tuesday though sentiment favors his release for aiding the injured in the wreck.
Wreck of Wabash passenger No 4 near a Missouri river bend leaves seven dead and several seriously hurt. Engineer Charles Flowers and fireman Louis Bond among the crew killed. many passengers injured as flood-weakened roadbed undermined tracks. The train left Kansas City at 9 p.m. Saturday en route to St Louis, with eight cars, five of which and the engine fell into the river.
In Lafayette Indiana July 25 three men returning from an amusement park were in a car driven by Harry Styner. Meredith was killed and Blackwell severely hurt with Styner painfully injured when the auto plunged down an embankment and struck a tree near the Wabash gg.
Dispatch from Gallipolis reports the Tacoma steamer of the Greene line left Cincinnati Thursday for Charleston struck an obstruction near Proctersville and sank on its return trip. Captain Gordon C Greene, manager, was reportedly away. Mrs Greene was aboard with others.

An unidentified woman about 60 years old attempted suicide by jumping into the Ohio River near Preston Street in Louisville. She was dragged from the water unconscious, taken to the city hospital, and died about three hours later. A bystander who tried to rescue her could not identify the woman.
Patrick J. Loynch a 39 year old Elk Club steward was found murdered in Beaumont Texas around midnight. The body showed nine gashes on head and forehead. Local arrests have been made and the case is under investigation. A brother resides in Albuquerque a sister and uncle in Kansas City are named in the report.
In St Albans England on July 25 crowds packed the church and streets to greet the king and queen. Scouts from nearby villages formed corps outside the church as the monarch entered and later inspected the group before leaving for Mr Reid’s residence amid showery weather and a royal tea.
A former nun Mrs. James Walters who left her Cincinnati nursing post six years ago has not reached her Jersey City relatives. Neighbors report she has not been seen and no communications have arrived from her family. A Commercial Tribune correspondent visited the 28 Charles Street home and spoke with her father, William Brown, who offered no details.
