Escape by Illinois Hospital inmates ends in guard deaths
In Chester Illinois thirty one inmates smashed through bars of the Bull Pen to flee the Illinois Hospital for Criminal Insane after clubbing two guards. One inmate named Jackson was shot by a guard during the break. Four escapees were captured and a large manhunt followed with guards police and locals pursuing fugitives.

A Hebrew note blamed no one and named his mother as heir, as police and relatives seek the unidentified unnamed party. Nathan Ehoodin, the brother, described his brother as cheerful hours before. The revolver remained in his grasp when found by Max Limking who also aided translation of the note. Coroner Handley ordered the body to the morgue.

NEW YORK July 22 Twenty six passengers including women and children were thrown into New York Harbor when the yacht Stray was struck by the excursion steamer Albertina from Red Bank New Jersey to New York. All aboard were picked up by lifeboats and landed at Brooklyn. Ambulances arrived too late to aid any injuries. no injuries were reported. Harbor craft searched the waters to ensure no one was missing.
