New York July 22 William A Brady says he authorized Do A Cochran of London to offer Jack Dempsey 450000 pounds to sign to meet Geo Carpentier in London in November or December this year Cochran will deposit 20000 pounds as a good faith guarantee confirmed Brady said.
Francisco Villa presses surrender as government refuses to negotiate. Official statement says more than 8,000 troops oppose Villa in Chihuahua with federal forces occupying his supply bases and surrounding him.
Brother Michael Morgan a Redemptorist was shot dead at Clonard Monastery Falls road during rioter troop engagement. Two others William Downey and William Godenrey were killed. Rioting spread through Kashmir road Ballymacarrett Cromac square and nearby districts with multiple casualties and widespread property damage as troops used machine guns to restore order.
The Marion crowd for the Harding notification swelled to about four hundred as Cincinnati Republicans arrived by a nine-coach special train. Harry Stein aged 31 of 1916 Linn street died at General Hospital after being crushed beneath a wagon wheel. He fell from the wagon when it lurched over a street hole at York street and Central avenue. He suffered a mangled right leg and internal injuries.
