Theory of curing disease by raising white cells gains attention

Dr. Burr Ferguson of the Public Health Service in Southampton tests induced leucocytosis using mercury, arsenic, and quinine derivatives. Early results show white cell counts rising after injections, with several cured or improved cases cited in trachoma and other infections.

E W Wagner Ends Life Former Grain King Dies in Fall

Chicago input indicates E W Wagner once top figure in the grain trade plunged from the Westminster Building fifteenth floor to the Monroe Theater roof. About 60, he lived on Lake Shore Drive. His firm failed for millions and went into receivership December 31, 1921. Police found thirty five cents in his clothing.

Australia loan oversubscribed in one hour in New York

The Commonwealth of Australia 6 percent external loan of 75.6 million dollars, floated by a banking group led by J P Morgan and Company, was oversubscribed within an hour after books opened in New York on July 20.

A severe storm cut through Cincinnati area with four to four and a half inches of rain. The front of the Hurting Bottle Supply Co building at 182 130 Sycamore street collapsed. Traffic halted as water filled streets two to four feet deep and power lines sparked, causing one horse fatality.

Duel in Imperial Hills Ends with Self Inflicted Death

John Truden of San Diego killed H Kirk of Imperial in a dawn pistol duel near Imperial after a six year conflict. A pact required the survivor to die by own hand within three days. In Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania 600 United Mine Workers delegates clashed at the District No 1 biennial meeting. Three melees erupted within thirty minutes prompting a police to club a protester and escort a second deputy from the hall. Bryan on stand questioned by Darrow over belief in scriptures
