In Mexico City a Zapatista assault on a passenger train between Mexico City and Cuernavaca left more than sixty dead and many wounded. A mine blew the track, followed by a killing spree as rebels torched cars and threw bodies into the flames. An American conductor was gravely wounded. A priest appealed to halt the slaughter, and the attack ceased.
Special Dispatch reports United States secret service officers seized Bamilio Vasquez Gomez, Mexico City interior minister and a week provisional president of the Orozco faction, in El Paso. Francisco Guzman, Dr. P. Rueda, Francisco Perez and Felipe Nivannon were also detained, all charged with violating U S neutrality laws. The raid caused a tremendous sensation.
Colgate Hoyt head of Colgate Hoyt & Co. bankers at 65 Wall Street wed Katherine Cheesman daughter of the late Judge Sharp. The ceremony at Wood Manse Greenwich Conn was performed by Rev Dr Meary. Hoyt born 1849 in Cleveland and previously married to Lida Sherman.

A Baltimore dispatch reports a shipmate stating Captain Bri J Smith commander of the Titanic was not drowned and was seen yesterday indicating a possible survival claim amid the ill fated voyage.
In New York on July 20, Peter Pryall of Baltimore says he knew Captain Smith for 17 years and was quartermaster on the Majestic when Smith commanded it. The case concerns George Raymond Harkness, a Brooklyn real estate man who says he accidentally shot and killed a woman not his wife.
New York police head George Dougherty vows a full investigation into the Rosenthal murder. The boy who handed the paper to Rosenthal is found and sent to Saratoga with funds. Becker is not yet arrested, but connections to the case are scrutinized amid claims of conspiracy and pursuit of squealers.
