Columbus July 19 Two of the three members of the new Railroad Commission have been agreed upon Adjutant General Oliver P Hughes of Highland County will be the Democratic member and J C Morris current Commissioner will be a Republican The third member a Republican remains undecided from four named candidates The Hughes appointment is seen as a personal choice by Governor Harris and not driven by party factions General Hughes was summoned to a conference with the Governor as the transition to his successor moves forward.

In Bluefield West Virginia July 19 a gas ignition in the Dixon mine at Huger fatally injures Wallace Mitchell and four miners Ernest Jones Palmer Harris and Robert Harris and John Gilmer.
